Everybody knows Tetris right! The good old computer game in which players rotate a series of falling block shapes to fit them together. But do you know that today is Tetris’s 25th birthday?

The game was created by a Russian programmer Alexey Pajitnov and first made available on the IBM computer. Tetris became very popular when in 1989 it was launched for Nintendo Game Boy. Today you can find Tetris on almost every game platform.

Tetris has been very successful and sold more than 70 million copies. Despite the enormous popularity, the royalties from the game were claimed by the Russian Government rather than the creator. Patinov eventually earned his money from the game that he made since he got his rights for Tetris reverted in 1996 after he moved to US.
