Mark Fidrych, Eccentric All-Star pitcher called “The Birds,” whose career was shortened by injuryies was found dead Monday in an apparent accident at his farm. Lockenhaus right American League Rookie of the Year was 1976, when he was 19-9 with a 2.34 ERA and 24 complete games. He spent five seasons of his Major League with the Detroit Tigers, compiling a 29-19 intake and 3.10 ERA.
“All the Detroit Tigers organization is sad to learn of the death of former player Mark Fidrych today,” Tiger in a statement. Tigers send our sincere condolences to his family and friends. ”
Fidrych try again in the years 1982 and 1983 Boston Red Sox organization. Worcester, Massachusetts, and later, the owner of a road.
Fidrych acquired the nickname “Bird” because of his similarity to the character Big Bird of Sesame Street.
